What is "Costa Rica Guesthouse"?
With the structure and style of the original mansion build in 1904, made with walls of heavy brick, high ceilings and illuminated windows that create a colonial Victorian atmosphere, this hotel is divided in two parts, one is the old house with 6 Masters suites with bathrooms, 4 Deluxe rooms and 4 Standard rooms. The new part of the hotel consists of a great social room with tropicals patios, a bar, a restaurant and 3 Masters suites with bathrooms, 5 Deluxe rooms and 1 Master suite...This hotel offers a clean and friendly family environment, with easy access to main tourist attractions and reasonable rates.
Do you allow children staying with parents at the hostels?
We do not allow anyone under the age of 18, not accompanied by an adult, to stay in double rooms.
What about the passport?
You need a valid passport to check in at the reception.
Do your prices include taxes and breakfast?
No, but a tropical breakfast is available every morning in Restaurant. Coffee & tea is free.
What is your cancellation policy? Cancellations must be made 24hrs before your arrival. If you do not show up for your reservation, or cancel before this time your credit card will be charged for each bed or private room reserved for the first night of your booking.
I'm arriving by airport, how do I get to the hotel?
You can book an airport shuttle with us here (email) or take a cab outside the aiport, they have a little orange cabin where you can buy your ticket to take you to our place, just say "Hotel Costa Rica Guesthouse, avenida 6, calle 23, 100 metros al noreste de la corte suprema de San José". Note that the taxis are as expensive as our shuttle.
The airport pick up is free ?
No its not free, we can come to pick you up at the airport. The ride is only 30mn and cost $22 for 1 & 2 pax + $8 for additional person, click here to book.
How do I get back to the airport?
Our receptionists can book you a shuttle back to the airport. Just be sure to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance.
What can I do with my gear after checkout?
You can store your luggage in our store room for free after checking out. Just be sure to label it with your name on it. Note we don't take any responsability for missing items, but our storage is on CCTV 24/7.
Do you have wireless internet?
Yes, we do! If you’re traveling with a laptop you can connect to our wireless network for free.
Is the hostel located in a safe area?
In any large city you are not familiar with, it pays to use a little caution. We wouldn’t suggest that you take a long, lonely walk at night but as long as you use common sense you’ll be just fine. Take a taxi at night they are cheap and the receptionist will call one for you anytime you want. San Jose is just like any large latin American city – some parts are better than others. Regardless, we take precautions for your safety. There is someone at the reception desk 24 hours a day and guests must present their room keys to be admitted to the hostel. We have 24hrs security in the street and a CCTV network running 24/7.
